Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the assessment and treatment of the soft tissue and joints of the body. Using manipulation of the soft tissue and joints, Massage Therapy rehabilitates physical function and relieves pain.

Massage therapy is an ancient healing art.

Kneading the muscles loosens the soft tissues, frees up circulation and relieves the physical pressure of the muscle on the nerves. The release of tension has a balancing effect on the nervous system, which helps to balance all systems of the body. When a person is in balance they are in a state of health and well being. Thus, sleep patterns, appetite, hormone balance, energy production, waste elimination, and emotional and physical well being may all be enhanced by massage.

Massage has been touted as beneficial to health for
thousands of years. Hippocrates, the father of modern
medicine, recommended that massage be done daily.
Massage therapy is also referenced in ancient Chinese
Medical texts as beneficial to the treatment of paralysis
and reduced circulation. Today, Massage Therapy is
widely known and practiced. Many of the physical benefits
of massage, such as relief of muscle tension and mobility,
are commonly understood. Massage Therapy, however,
often heals more than just tension.
